Whatever we cannot handle, we turn over to our trusted Business colleagues, we have no problem with sharing if it is for the benefit  of the client in a working relationship.

At the same time do we not keep anyone that is unresponsive, meaning breaking appointments " we are rigid here" and or payments late as well as disrespectful demeanor. Let's be honest here, for hardware, it depends sole on how much you are willing to spend, that will determine how good , fast and foremost solid you will be.
We deal with mostly smaller businesses around 10 or less workstations as the need to get elaborate is not there for this, equipment today is strong enough to handle this kind of workflow over the counter.

We are not fond of Raid systems for one reason, true they hardly do go down as long as you have always the extra back up drive ready but if it does go down , the data retrieval chances are slim to ultra expansive ....trust me here been there done that.
there have been many locations that had databases on different workstations or files located off the primary server, this is counterproductive not only for network response time internet sharing, it also is nearly impossible to secure or protect and to back up.
 

Most commonly, the proprietor would like to have his information be available to him/her at home, we all know this. As long as we are in a small environment, this is possible depending upon the programs capabilities. Offline spawning is a great way also for bookkeepers which have not yet been set up for remote access for billing purposes.

Many businesses have not yet upgraded to the more and more required newer Operating systems, we are aware of this and would like to tell you that,

the chances of corruption far outweigh new installations.
Many have programs that if installed and the Operating system is upgraded, CAN crash due to incompatibilities.....very serious issue here.

It is highly advisable to bite the money apple and get a clean start, unfortunately this also includes hardware as moist older Computers simply do not have the capabilities that the new Operating systems need.

So, to put it point blank, Windows 95/98/ME will cease to exist in lifeline meaning Microsoft will no longer write and release patches !Software companies will NOT release new versions for older Windows OS's.

Good news is :

• Hardware is not as expansive as it was when you first began
• a LOT more powerful
• A lot more capable

Minimize risk by

1. Buying new hardware
2. Buying latest versions of whatever program you use or be willing to change.
3. Be prepared for learning curve by the office administrator.
4. Do it during OFF hours only
